2024 Indy 500: Marcus Ericsson and Tom Blomqvist crashed in Lap 1, causing both their eliminations.
2022 Indy 500 champion Marcus Ericsson and rookie Tom Blomqvist were involved in a multi-car crash on Lap 1 of the 2024 Indianapolis 500. Blomqvist hit the curb on the inside of Turn 1, causing his car to spin, which led to Ericsson's car colliding with Blomqvist's vehicle. Both cars ended up coming to a stop in the shortchute between Turns 1 and 2. The incident resulted in the elimination of both drivers from the race.
