2,000+ killed in Papua New Guinea landslide; India, others offer condolences and assistance.
India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed condolences after over 2,000 people were killed in a landslide in Papua New Guinea on May 24. Jaishankar said, "Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in Papua New Guinea following the recent landslide... India stands in solidarity with our friends at this difficult time." Countries worldwide, including China, France, and South Korea, have also offered condolences and assistance to the island nation.
