China opens its first TIR assembly center in Kashgar, Xinjiang, enhancing customs clearance efficiency for goods to Central Asia and Europe.
The International Road Transport Union (IRU) has certified China's first TIR assembly center in the Kashgar Area of Xinjiang, within the China (Xinjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone. This marks the first TIR center in China and is anticipated to enhance customs clearance efficiency for goods from Kashgar to Central Asia and Europe by at least 30%, and lower transportation costs by approximately 15%. The TIR Convention, joined by China in July 2016, is an international customs transit system designed to streamline administrative processes for transporting goods across borders. The center will allow logistics companies to bypass loading and unloading operations and customs transfer procedures for goods in transit, potentially opening up opportunities to explore the European market.
