Zimbabwe's regulator approves Starlink, operated by SpaceX, to improve internet access and boost digital economy.

Zimbabwe's telecom regulator has granted approval for Elon Musk's Starlink, a satellite internet service operated by SpaceX, to operate in Zimbabwe. This move is aimed at improving internet access in the southern African country and aligns with President Mnangagwa's initiative to boost Zimbabwe's digital economy and bridge the digital divide. Starlink will provide services through its local partner, IMC Communications, and aims to deploy high-speed, low-cost LEO (low-Earth-orbit) internet infrastructure throughout the country, with a particular focus on rural areas.
