The Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata will suspend cargo and container handling operations for 12 hours from Sunday evening due to a cyclone alert. The suspension, from 6 pm on Sunday until 6 am on Monday, aims to ensure worker safety and prepare for the cyclone, expected to make landfall along West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts with 110-120 km/h wind speeds and gusts of 135 km/h. Railway operations in the port area will also be halted during this time.
