Melbourne Demons' ruckman Max Gawn overcame a tight calf to lead his team to a 38-point win against Euro-Yroke, propelling the Demons back into the top four of the AFL. Gawn passed a late fitness test and managed to rack up 27 disposals, 10 clearances, seven marks and a goal in the victory. Coach Simon Goodwin praised Gawn's influence, stating that his captain rose to the occasion and played accordingly.
