Former U.S. Border Patrol agent Hector Hernandez, 55, was sentenced to over 7 years in prison for accepting bribes and participating in drug and human smuggling attempts. Hernandez admitted to aiding smugglers by showing them how to avoid detection along the U.S.-Mexico border and opening restricted border fences for a fee of $5,000 per incident. He was arrested last May after agreeing to retrieve a bag of drugs hidden near the border for $20,000.
