Self-exiled Chinese billionaire, Guo Wengui, faces trial in New York for allegedly swindling over $1bn from investors. Prosecutors claim that Guo, who has amassed an online following criticising the Chinese government, tricked followers into investing in his ventures, which he then spent on a lavish lifestyle. Guo has pleaded not guilty to 11 charges, including fraud and racketeering.
