The Seattle Mariners have demoted struggling third baseman Luis Urias to Triple-A Tacoma due to his poor performance (.152 batting average, 3 HR, 12 RBIs in 34 games). In his place, the team recalled outfielder Jonatan Clase. Urias, who has a seven-season career with various teams, will be replaced by Clase, who had a .222 batting average with a double and 3 RBIs in 9 MLB games before being sent back to Tacoma.
