An Post has requested €500,000 from the government to cover losses from collecting TV licences last year due to a drop in sales following the RTÉ pay scandal. The letter to Media Minister Catherine Martin also warns that An Post could face almost €2m in losses this year. The appeal adds to the government's woes in funding public service broadcasting, as it is already bailing out RTÉ due to falling TV licence sales.
