Precision Neuroscience, a startup developing a brain-computer interface (BCI), conducted a record-breaking surgery at Mount Sinai Health System in NYC, involving 4 electrode arrays on a patient's brain. The Layer 7 Cortical Interface, a microelectrode array thinner than a human hair, aims to help severe paralysis patients restore speech and movement. Precision is working towards FDA approval and has not yet implanted a patient with a permanent version of its technology.
