India is seeking a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Maldives, according to Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed. The Maldives President has offered a similar opportunity to all countries in an effort to ease trade activities. India's pursuit of an FTA comes amid an ongoing diplomatic row with the Maldives since November, when President Muizzu, known for his pro-China leanings, took office and demanded the withdrawal of Indian military personnel.
