Two chemical and plastics industry groups, the American Chemistry Council and Plastics Industry Association, filed lawsuits against California Attorney General Rob Bonta to block his attempts to obtain documents related to the plastic waste crisis. The groups claim California's Democratic top lawyer's demands have chilled their constitutional right to free speech. They have handed over some documents about "advanced recycling" technology that turns hard-to-recycle plastic into fuel but withheld internal documents containing confidential industry data and communications related to public policy and advocacy matters.
