Anasuya Sengupta, a Kolkata-born actress, became the first Indian to win Best Actress at Cannes, taking home the award at the Un Certain Regard segment for her role in Bulgarian director Constantin Bojanov's film "The Shameless." Sengupta, who holds a degree in English literature from Jadavpur University, initially aimed to discover herself through journalism and worked as a production designer in Mumbai before her Cannes win.
