63-year-old businessman Demetrios "James" Charisiou has been jailed for up to 12 years for a $395m National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) fraud involving two Korean-based firms. Charisiou, the director of Living Bright Australia, duped JB Asset Management and KB Securities into investing in NDIS-supported properties in Melbourne. Most of the funds were not used for their intended purpose, and he has paid back most of the sum, though $6m remains unaccounted for.
