Vice President Kamala Harris announced a new initiative to increase internet access in Africa, aiming to provide access to 80% of the continent's population by 2030. This follows her visit to Africa last year and her recent meeting with Kenyan President William Ruto. The initiative includes launching the nonprofit Partnership for Digital Access in Africa, the Mobilizing Access to the Digital Economy Alliance (MADE) for 3 million farmers in Kenya, Tanzania, and Nigeria, and the Women in the Digital Economy initiative, which has generated over $1 billion in public and private commitments.
