Venezuelan ex-National Guard officer, Nepmar Jesus Escalona Enriquez, sentenced to 1 year & 1 day in prison for money laundering. His scheme involved bribing officials and deceiving financial institutions with fraudulent applications to Venezuela's currency regulation authority, CADIVI, leading to a $1.7m transfer. Escalona pleaded guilty on March 4, admitting to arranging bribes and wire transfers to US financial institutions.
