Te Korowai o Wainuiārua and Ruapehu District Council choose Crown-owned Raetihi police station site for community hub under $28.5m Treaty settlement.

Iwi collective Te Korowai o Wainuiārua and Ruapehu District Council have chosen the Crown-owned 5800m2 site of the Raetihi single-officer police station as the preferred location for a multi-functional community hub. The land is to be returned to Te Korowai under the $28.5m Treaty settlement signed with the Crown. Settlement legislation is still being processed, but the council recommended the location after site evaluations and consultation, citing its size, ownership status, and cultural connections to the landscape.
