Singapore's High Court orders Lee Hsien Yang to pay S$400,000 in damages for defaming Law Minister K. Shanmugam and Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.
Singapore's High Court ordered Lee Hsien Yang, the brother of former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, to pay S$400,000 ($296,000) in damages for defaming Law Minister K. Shanmugam and Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan. Lee must pay S$200,000 each to both ministers, as per the Friday court ruling. The two ministers had sued Lee over allegations he made in a Facebook post in July claiming they received preferential treatment for renting state property. They also sought damages, which will be donated to charity.
