The Philippines' national government posted a P42.7 billion budget surplus in April, a 36.03% decline from the previous year's P66.8 billion, due to a 32.25% increase in expenditures outpacing the 21.9% rise in revenue collection. The year-to-date budget deficit increased to P229.9 billion, up 12.66% from the previous year. Total revenue for April reached P537.2 billion, a 21.9% increase from the same month in 2021.
