The Navajo Nation Council has unanimously approved a proposed water rights settlement, with a larger price tag than any previous Congress-enacted agreement, to secure water for the Navajo Nation, Hopi Tribe, and San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe in a state facing water cuts. The Navajo Nation has the largest single outstanding claim in the Colorado River basin. Congress will have the final say on the settlement.
