Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer appointed Mott Community College President Beverly Walker-Griffea as the first director of the new Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement and Potential (MiLEAP). The department aims to improve educational outcomes from preschool to college, helping Michiganders obtain good education and jobs. Walker-Griffea will take over on June 24, following Michelle Richard's role as acting director.
