13,000 Irish officers use Garda Mobility App to identify and seize over 7,300 uninsured vehicles, with 1,840 seized in April.

Gardaí in Ireland have launched a new system that allows them to quickly identify uninsured vehicles, with more than 13,000 officers now able to check a vehicle's insurance status while on the roadside using the Garda Mobility App. The system, which was piloted in January, has led to the seizure of over 7,300 vehicles, with 1,840 vehicles seized in April alone. The Motor Insurers' Bureau of Ireland (MIBI) now provides the Garda with insurance details of over three million vehicles operating on Irish roads via the Irish Motor Insurance Database.
