Indian filmmaker Chidananda S. Naik's short film "Sunflowers Were The First Ones To Know" wins the top prize at the 77th Cannes Film Festival's La Cinef category for Best Short Film. Based on a Kannada folk tale, the film tells the story of an old woman who steals a rooster, leading to perpetual darkness in her village. This marks the second Indian win at Cannes in five years, following Ashmita Guha Neogi's 2020 victory for "CatDog."
