Fincantieri Marinette Marine has been awarded a $1.04 billion contract to build two new Constellation-class frigates, FFG 66 and FFG 67, for the U.S. Navy. The contract brings the number of Constellation-class frigates on order to six, with five additional options remaining on the original contract. If all options are exercised, the contract's value would exceed $5.5 billion. The Navy has a stated requirement for 20 frigates.
