Cannes Film Festival awards L'Œil d'Or to two documentaries: "Ernest Cole: Lost and Found" and "The Brink of Dreams". The first, directed by Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck, showcases the work of legendary South African photographer Ernest Cole, who documented apartheid. The second, co-directed by Nada Riyadh, follows teenage girls in rural southern Egypt as they form a street theatre group.
