Canada's East Coast forecasts an active storm season due to warmer Atlantic waters and shifting Pacific climate patterns.
Canada's East Coast is likely to experience an active storm season this year due to record warm water temperatures in the Atlantic Ocean and transitioning climate patterns in the Pacific Ocean, moving away from El Niño, which brings above-average water temperatures, towards La Niña, which typically leads to more storms in the Atlantic. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in the US predicts 17-25 named storms, 8-13 hurricanes, and 4-7 major hurricanes in the North Atlantic Ocean this season.
