Canada's Competition Bureau is investigating the parent companies of grocery chains Loblaws and Sobeys for alleged anticompetitive conduct. The Bureau claims that property controls baked into lease agreements by the grocery giants are designed to restrict other potential tenants and their activities, thus limiting competition in the grocery market. Sobeys' owner has called the inquiry "unlawful."
