The British Columbia government announces a $900M hydrogen project, H2 Gateway, supported by a $337M loan, creating 300 jobs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The British Columbia government has announced a $900 million hydrogen project to create a network of hydrogen production plants and refuelling stations, expected to create nearly 300 jobs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The project, called H2 Gateway, is supported by a $337 million loan from the Canada Infrastructure Bank to hydrogen company HTEC. The refuelling stations will be supplied by three new production plants in Burnaby, Nanaimo, and Prince George, and a facility to liquefy 15 tonnes of byproduct hydrogen will be constructed in North Vancouver. The initiative will create over 280 jobs and is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 133,000 tonnes annually.
