Amazon plans to deorbit two prototype Kuiper broadband internet satellites after successful tests, competing with SpaceX's Starlink.
Amazon plans to deorbit two prototype satellites following successful tests of its Kuiper broadband internet constellation, a network of over 3,000 satellites set to compete with SpaceX's Starlink. The KuiperSat-1 and KuiperSat-2, launched in 2023, achieved a 100% success rate in low-Earth orbit. The deorbiting process will involve gradually lowering the satellites' orbital altitudes until they are naturally pulled into Earth's atmosphere.
