40-year-old Kenyan mountaineer Joshua Cheruiyot Kirui was found dead near Mount Everest's summit after attempting to climb the peak without supplementary oxygen. He went missing on 22 May along with his 44-year-old Nepali guide, Nawang Sherpa, who remains unlocated by search teams. Climbing Everest without supplemental oxygen is known to be extremely difficult and risky even for experienced climbers.
