1 worker died, 2 in ICU after inhaling poisonous hydrogen sulphide gas during routine tank cleaning at PUB Choa Chu Kang Waterworks plant on May 23. Early investigations suggest the workers inhaled the gas produced from sludge, a by-product of the water treatment process. The Public Utilities Board has called a safety timeout for similar operations and is reviewing safety measures.
