15 million Americans are still burdened by medical debt despite improvements in credit agency reporting, according to a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) report. Despite Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion's efforts to remove 70% of medical debt in collections from credit reports, and increasing the time before medical bills can appear from 180 days to a year, millions of Americans continue to experience credit damage due to medical debts.
