600,000 infant Angasi oysters seeded in Wagonga Inlet Living Shoreline project to revive Narooma's ecosystem.
Narooma's ecosystem is being revived through the Wagonga Inlet Living Shoreline project, which involved the recent second seeding of Angasi oysters. Approximately 600,000 infant oysters were placed into the water, with the team keeping them longer in the hatchery tanks to mitigate vulnerability. Last year, two million oyster larvae were placed on clean oyster shells before being placed on a newly reconstructed oyster reef in the inlet. The high predation rate of young oysters led to this year's adjustments.
