88-year-old former boxer Iwao Hakamada, longest-serving death row inmate, faces retrial for 1968 murder in Japan.
88-year-old former boxer, Iwao Hakamada, the world's longest-serving death row inmate, had the death penalty sought again in his retrial in Japan. Hakamada spent 46 years on death row for the 1968 murder of his boss and his boss's family before being released in 2014 due to possible evidence planting. A retrial was ordered, and although he gained support from rights groups and other boxers, prosecutors argue his guilt can be proven "beyond reasonable doubt".
