A study by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health found that the risk of hospitalization for metabolic disorders, such as diabetes, blood pressure issues, and obesity, almost doubles during the hottest days compared to comfortable temperatures. This research analyzed hospital admissions related to high temperatures in Spain over more than a decade. The study also revealed that higher levels of air pollution worsen the risk of hospital admission for those with metabolic conditions.
