San Francisco public sector nurses reach tentative agreement addressing staffing, wages, and recruitment, avoiding potential strike.

San Francisco public sector nurses have reached a tentative agreement with the city's Department of Public Health, avoiding a potential strike over staffing shortages and unsafe conditions for patients. The union, SEIU 1021, announced the deal, which improves staffing, retention and recruitment, and reduces contracting out, as well as bridging the wage gap between public and private institutions. The agreement will also add 47 new registered nurse positions to help nurses transition to full-time roles.
