Oklahoma City Council approves $900mn downtown arena plan for the Thunder, to be completed by 2028.
The Oklahoma City Council has approved a $900mn plan for a new downtown arena, to be completed by June 2028, replacing the Cox Convention Center and serving as the new home for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The project's funding will come from $78m from MAPS 4, $50m from PBCS&E, and a minimum of $772m through a special 72-month, 1-cent sales tax. The Thunder will remain in Oklahoma City for 25 years after the arena's opening.
