UK telecoms regulator Ofcom has fined BT £2.8m for failing to provide clear contract information to over 1.1 mn EE and Plusnet customers before they signed up. The breach of consumer protection rules, requiring companies to provide customers with detailed contract information, has resulted in BT being ordered to reimburse any affected customers charged exit fees, contact remaining customers to offer them the right to cancel without charge, and amend its sales processes.
