NY State Supreme Court Appellate Division rules unanimously that NYC must uphold its promise to offer supplemental Medicare coverage to 250,000 retired municipal workers.

The NY State Supreme Court Appellate Division has ruled unanimously that NYC must uphold its longstanding promise to offer supplemental Medicare coverage to 250,000 retired municipal workers. The court stated the city cannot break this promise made over 50 years and must not divert retirees into private Medicare managed care plans. This decision marks the fourth time courts have sided with retirees against Mayor Adams' attempt to enroll them in a cost-saving Medicare Advantage plan.
