North Carolina Rep. Greg Murphy, a Republican, takes indefinite leave for pituitary macroadenoma surgery.
North Carolina Rep. Greg Murphy, a Republican and practicing urologist, will take an indefinite leave from Congress for surgery to remove a base-of-skull tumor called a pituitary macroadenoma. The tumor is believed to be benign, and Murphy's prognosis is excellent, with hopes to return to full-time work soon. The House Speaker's majority will narrow to 216 Republicans and 213 Democrats during Murphy's absence.
