Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated a 15-member National Stakeholders Working Group (NSWG) for the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), reaffirming Nigeria's commitment to the global Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) principles. NEITI, established in 2004, is tasked with ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of the nation's oil, gas, and mining resources. The new board, chaired by Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, will provide strong policy direction for NEITI and the extractive sector, focusing on the full implementation of EITI principles and standards.
