Voters approved a $150m property tax increase in Portland.

Voters in Multnomah County, including Portland, approved a property tax increase (Measure 26-243) for a $150m bond to improve the aging flood protection system along the Columbia River. The measure received 65% of the vote and will cost property owners around 11 cents per $1000 of assessed property annually. The funds will be used to repair and raise levee heights, upgrade pump stations and invest in natural floodplain restoration. The tax renewal will also unlock an additional $100m in federal funding.
