Misty Burgess from Lee County, Mississippi, has pleaded guilty to stealing government funds by fraudulently claiming unemployment benefits using her incarcerated sister's identity in 2020. Her sister was ineligible for unemployment benefits as she was in prison at the time. The case has been prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's office and Burgess is scheduled to be sentenced in September.
