Microsoft and UAE-based AI firm G42 are investing $1 billion to build a geothermal-powered data center in Kenya as part of Microsoft's efforts to expand cloud-computing services in East Africa. The data center will be powered by green energy and provide access to Microsoft's Azure through a new cloud region for East Africa. The first phase will have a capacity of 100 megawatts and is expected to be operational in about two years.
