Indian government and DoT combat fake LIC messages, block 372 handsets and suspend 906 connections.

Indian government and Department of Telecommunications (DoT) are combating fraudulent activities involving fake messages impersonating Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) officials and representatives. In response to complaints, the DoT blocked 372 mobile handsets linked to 14 mobile numbers within 24 hours and suspended 906 mobile connections for re-verification. Citizens are urged to report suspicious communications via the Chakshu-Report Suspected Fraud Communications facility on the Sanchar Saathi portal, helping create a safer digital environment and serve as the first line of defense against cybercriminals.
