The World Bank reported that global carbon pricing revenues reached a record $104 billion in 2023, though these revenues remain insufficient to align with the Paris Agreement's climate goals. With 75 carbon pricing instruments in operation, covering around 24% of global greenhouse gas emissions, the increase in revenues from $95 billion in 2022 demonstrates growth, but less than 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions are currently covered.
