Renowned South Korean girl group BLACKPINK made history as the first K-Pop girl group to receive a BRIT Gold Certification for their debut album "THE ALBUM" in the UK. The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) confirmed the band's album, released in October 2020, sold over 100,000 units, meeting the certification's criteria. This marks the first time a female K-pop act has earned a gold certification in the UK.
