7,500 Western Sydney University staff and students were caught in a cyber attack which accessed email accounts and SharePoint files. The university discovered the breach in January, shutting it down quickly, but further investigation revealed an earlier hack in May 2023. The institution has not received ransom demands and has informed those affected. Solar Car Laboratory infrastructure was also compromised.
