University of Waikato staff, represented by TEU, strike for 3.5 hours over unproductive negotiations and a 5% salary increase demand.
University of Waikato staff represented by Tertiary Education Union (TEU) will strike for 3.5 hours on Friday, following eight months of unproductive negotiations. The University is anticipating a $24m revenue increase in 2024, but only $4m will be allocated for salary improvements. TEU demands a 5% salary increase, while the university has only increased its offer from 2.65% to 2.85%. The strike includes a rally outside the Pā at 11:30am.
